Lifestyle vs lifestyle entrepreneur

Life can be expensive. Mortgage or rent, groceries, gasoline, utilities, health/car/life insurance, etc add up to a lot of money. The entrepreneur has two core resources - time and money. Some of you may also have connections and other resources, but the first two tend to be the main currency of the entrepreneur.

Depending on where you live and how lavish a lifestyle you choose, you may require more money to make ends meet. For the employed or early stage entrepreneur, you trade a lot of your time at a job to make more money. That means you have less time to pursue your own ventures.

But, if you have a choice, you may be able to change your lifestyle or location so that you require less money to live and have more time and money to put towards your entrepreneurial ventures and more importantly, for the lifestyle you want to live.

That may sound trite, especially now in light of the current economic decline and fear. But it makes good sense. For many (if not all) of us, the desire to be an entrepreneur really centers around the lifestyle we envision that goes along with being whatever an entrepreneur is. To work less and enjoy life more. The idea is to replace the hectic life with one we in which thrive mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Instead of needing to be independently wealthy, though, you might just need to make change. The idea of a lifestyle entrepreneur is one where your entrepreneurial ventures allow you flexibility, whether it be hours worked, where you work, or being your own boss.

If you could cut your living expenses, would life be better? Could you reduce the number of hours you need to work at a real job? Could you invest more into your retirement? Could you spend more time with family, your hobby, or maybe making money from your own entrepreneurial ventures?

I think it is definitely something to think about.
