Grading your website marketing
So it has been a while since the last post. No not a shortage of ideas, just the usual shortage of time. After all, I am an employed entrepreneur. While working for the real JOB which happens to be a web start-up, we often run across very cool tools, resources, or gust generally cool finds. That is part of the reason I like to be employed. As part of a team, I am introduced to more new things than I would be if I were working alone.
Today, I ran across a link for website grader - a site that grades your website marketing efforts compared to other sites. This seemingly newer website looks at a domain name you enter and checks all sorts of items to see how your website ranks from a scale of (presumably) 0 to 100. The EmployedEntrepreneur.com website scored horribly in the 30’s. Yikes! But actually, I don’t mind so much. After all it is early in the life of this site and I would rather know about mistakes now and correct them.
Now it turns out that the results are not completely accurate, but you know what, it doesn’t matter. The point is that it gives you a great reference point from which to start.
It checks out various on-page and off-page SEO and rankings and offers suggestions to help you improve. It looks at Digg, Del.icio.us, page rank, indexed pages and some factors on your website. You can bookmark your result and even have it emailed to you. It also gives you a bit of a roadmap to follow to create a better optimized and more traffic’d website.
I checked out a variety of other websites and found some ranked similar or worse than this site. I also found several in the 70’s - 90’s. And just now while finishing this article I tried two other sites (both money making blogs) and one came up with a grade of 99.5! and the other a 99.8! Good to know as I study that site and glean some strategies and ideas for making this site better. Don’t worry, I will share.
Now go grade your website and see what you need to work on.
